TRUE STORY ! I THOUGHT I NEEDED A FRONT END ALIGHNMENT. NOW I CAN SAY I HAVE A PAUL GAMACHE HOT ROD, WELL MAYBE NOT.

ANYWAY PAUL THANKS FOR SAVING MY LIFE!

Custom Parts - Gamache Rod and Custom

gamacherodncustoms Had a 1923 T- bucket come in for a front end check up due to uneven tire wear. Found that the steering column tube had cracked at the mount on the floor, found that the steering shaft & coupler to the splined steering box shaft was using a 1/8 inch roll pin in a drilled hole in the steering box stub shaft with slots cut in the coupler & the coupler had set screws to hold it in place & everything was loose enough to remove with out tools! We fitted a splined coupler to the end of the steering shaft trued it up & tig welded it on, next we welded the column tube to the floor plate & added a gusset, next we will add a upper column mount to the back side of the dash, it never had a upper mount when that's done we cane check out the rest of the steering system & front axle set up. I'd like to say it amazes me to find bad workmanship & engineering on these cars but I've seen to much of it, but it does frighten me with how dangerous it can be do it right the first time & be safe. #1923tbucket #hotrods#safesteering #metalfabrication

Fabrication

gamacherodncustoms 1923 T-bucket steering column to dash mount that we fabricated out of 304 stainless steel & steel , the part that is painted black is 1/8 inch steel that was fastened to the wood on the back side of the dash, then a 1/8 inch stainless steel place was cut & break bent on each side & has a gusset added to the area of the mount. The column end has a tube mount welded to it so a through bolt for the band style clamp holds the support to the dash . After fabricating it was sanded & polished & painted, the 3 holes in the mount were done to give a similar look as the brake & gas pedals, no more shaking column or cracked mounts . After a full front end alinement & wheel base correction it drove very well , one of our specialties is making early Ford styled front suspensions handle like they were on rails & ride very good at the same time , after 50 plus years of working on this type of suspension we know what works. #1923tbucket #stainlesssteelfabrication#hotrods#streetrods #metalfabrication#steeringcolumnmount#makeithandle
